Prevent - Leader Officer, Neil Gunn

  • Make people better informed and more resilient to extreme and violent views and behaviour.  Ensure partners are aware of their role in preventing terrorism.
  • Actively engage with partnerships/communities to deliver CONTEST Prevent events/activities.
  • Improve staff awareness of dealing with concerns about individuals and the meetings and methods available such as prevent professional concerns meetings as part of the existing adult and child referral arrangements.
  • Provide training for staff and awareness raising for young people and adults.
  • Ensure staff are aware of the referral mechanisms to Police and other agencies where there are concerns about violent groups, organisations and websites.
  • Promote clear and accessible acceptable use policies about the use of facilities and premises.
  • Participate in the annual briefing of key partners about the threats, risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Disseminate information based on the CONTEST strategic board communications plan.
  • Produce an annual report for the Council’s Senior Management Team on the delivery of the CONTEST Prevent Action Plan.
  • Report progress on a quarterly basis to the Dundee Community Safety Partnership and CONTEST Scotland Board.
